Day Camper |
Name:
Michael Kraemer
Make: 1972 Bay Window Bus
The
Bus is a Westy Day Camper, painted in a Medium Calypso metallic.
It has an automatic transmission from a 78 Bus and a 78 Type
4 engine.
|
|
|
The engine is using CB Performance Fuel Injection with one of
your 4 knob control units, Type 1 turbo at 5 pounds boost with
a waste gate to set the boost pressure. The turbo is mounted on
the rear passenger side of the Bus, and attaches directly to the
exhaust header, and I do not run a muffler. |
| Heat
Shields are used to keep additional heat out of the engine compartment.
Doubters told me that I could not use your Type 1 system to do all
of this but with some thought and modifications it can be done!
Your 4 knob box, works just as it should. The Bus sounds like an
angry bee at 70 mph and definitely surprises quite a few people
when it accelerates. |

Just thought that i would send you a few
pics of my van which runs absolutely fantastic after fitting
your 34ict set up. Great carbs and improves my 1600 enging no
end. Complete with the full stainless exhaust system it sounds
as good as it runs.
|
My van is a 1970 Microbus (or at
least was!) and has taken 5 years or so of restoration to get
it to this point. It has been modded with a custom interior and
clean lines for that retro look being held up on 15" standard
wheels with whitewalls to complete the look. Lowered as much as
I can at the moment with the big wheels.
|
|
|
I have removed the front grill to complete the
clean and straight lines of the van. Paint is the original VW
Savanna beige, with the black pigment taken out to lighten it
up.
I run a club in the UK called The Old Volks Club
and we regularly by bits direct from CB Performance as they provide
the best goods time and time again, so many thanks from me and
all of our clubs members! |

To
add your vehicle to our Customer Rides Section, just send your specs,
along with atleast two pictures of your vehicle, to the Webmaster.
If you
havn't already submitted your vehicle to be in our Customer Rides section,
what are you waiting for? The T-2, and T-3 sections are looking a little
thin... Can your ride fill it in? |
