Unlike a mechanical distributor that follows a single fixed advance curve, the Black Box lets you optimize ignition timing for every driving condition. Add timing at idle for smoother operation, increase advance during cruising for improved fuel economy, and automatically retard timing under heavy load or boost for maximum performance and engine protection.

The Black Box receives the ignition trigger signal from a compatible distributor and electronically controls ignition timing through user-defined timing maps. After locking out the distributor's mechanical advance, timing changes are made through the Black Box software instead of changing springs, weights, or advance stops inside the distributor.

Basic Setup

• Lock out the distributor's mechanical advance mechanism
• Connect the Black Box according to the installation instructions
• Connect a vacuum/boost reference source
• Select a base MAP or Create a custom timing map using the software

• For applications requiring both fuel and ignition management, consider one of CB Performance's complete EFI systems
• Installation and tuning should be performed by a qualified technician or experienced engine tuner
