Sway-A-Way 4201 Heavy-Duty Spring Plates - IRS, 21 3/4"

Upgrade or convert your VW IRS rear suspension with genuine Sway-A-Way heavy-duty spring plates. These spring plates are manufactured from .250" thick spring steel and are designed for IRS applications using short 21 3/4" torsion bars.

The 2.935" splined collar is precision welded to the spring plate and matches the short 21 3/4" torsion bar configuration. The silver zinc plated finish provides corrosion protection while maintaining the classic Sway-A-Way appearance.

This short-bar configuration is commonly used where additional rear tire and wheel clearance is desired, making it especially useful for custom, off-road and performance VW applications.

Typical applications include: Type-1 IRS rear suspensions converted to use 21 3/4" short rear torsion bars, commonly for increased tire and wheel clearance in custom, off-road and performance applications. Because this is typically a conversion from a longer stock torsion bar setup, verify your torsion bar length and spring plate configuration before ordering.

Sway-A-Way offers different spring plate collar lengths to match different torsion bar lengths. The torsion bar and spring plate collar must be matched correctly so the splines engage properly.

IMPORTANT: Measure or verify your existing torsion bar length before ordering. These spring plates are intended for the short 21 3/4" torsion bar configuration and are not interchangeable with the longer 24 11/16" or 26 9/16" versions.

NOTE: Some early IRS vehicles equipped with original single-plate spring plates may require drilling an additional mounting hole in the Sway-A-Way spring plate. Verify your existing spring plate configuration before installation.

This #4201 set is part of Sway-A-Way's standard heavy-duty spring steel series and should not be confused with their more specialized 4130 Chromoly Race Series.

The #4201 plates use .250" thick spring steel construction and are an excellent choice for performance, off-road and heavy-duty applications without requiring the race series plates.
