Genuine VW Cooling Fan is engineered for air-cooled VW “doghouse” style fan shrouds. It provides the critical airflow required to cool cylinder heads, oil cooler, and engine tins on late-model ('71-on) upright VW Type 1 engines. Manufactured to VW’s dimensional and balance tolerances, it is suitable for restoration or your average engine build / refresh where efficient cooling is essential.

Fitment
Fits VW Type 1 (Beetle) and related platforms using the wide “doghouse” style oil cooler/fan shroud configuration. Specifically referenced by VW p/n 7X0-119-031 (and equivalent 113-119-031B) for late-model ('71-on) 1600cc upright engines and performance variants. Confirm shroud width and that your engine uses the large doghouse cooler layout before ordering.

Notes
  • Clean with solvent or brake cleaner prior to installation.
  • Installation tip: ensure proper fan hub nut torque, secure fan blade to fan pulley, and inspect for rim clearance inside shroud to prevent contact at high RPMs.
  • Loose key-ways, worn threads, and grooved fan hubs can cause the fan to self-destruct during high RPM operation.
