Description

CB's Billet Serpentine Belt System stops the problems of broken alt./gen. pulleys and thrown belts. The flat multi-grooved belt and idler pulley help reduce drag and lost power while increasing cooling efficiency and reliability. Serpentine Belts run with less noise and heat than old style V belts. The Billet Serpentine Belt System is easy to install, with the belt tensioner bracket held in position by the alt./gen. stand base bolts - just bolt it on! Serpentine Belts run silent, true, and outlast V belts many times over.

The standard size pulleys supplied in this kit are CNC machined from aluminum billets. The crank pulley is CNC engraved with timing marks and numbers.

Available in Polished, Anodized Blue, Black, or Red finish (Use drop-down menu above).

Also available with optional Spring-Loaded Belt Tensioner (Use drop-down menu above).

Fits all upright, air-cooled, VW Engines. Kit includes a CB #1889 Serpentine Belt.

NOTE: Not compatible with stock fuel injection on late model beetles. Not compatible with OE Mexico Alternator Stands - Use of a Stock style Alt/Gen Stand is required.

Check out the Installation Guide, as well as the Off-Road.com review.

3 of 5 Improving adjustment October 19, 2019
Reviewer: Martin from Orange County CA
M10 course thread pivot bolt tightened with open ended wrench doesn’t clamp up tight enough as evidenced by frequent readjustments. Replaced with grade 8 1/2-20 bolt which fits hole nicer, threaded into full sized nut which fits after trimming 0.20” off otherwise interfering idler pulley to gen stand nut. Clamp up way tighter for a given amount of torque possible with open end wrench, meaning no more frequent belt adjustments.

4 of 5 Serpentine Belt System Red September 6, 2019
Reviewer: Rich from Indiana
I've been running this now for 4 years and have had zero performance issues. My only minor complaint is the red anodizing on the alternator pulley nut has faded to a light red over time and no longer matches the rest of the system.

4 of 5 Good system July 26, 2017
Reviewer: Tony Z from Cape Town
I installed this serpentine system in my bus not too long ago.
The system works well and is easy to setup. Spare belts are off the shelf items and pretty cheap.
However, after 200 miles I checked the pulley and found it able to move on the crank. The fault lies in the washer which deforms permanently after being tightened for the first time.
I advise to replace this with a stock washer to avoid pulley damage.
