Designed as a plug-and-play replacement for Bosch 009-style distributors, this unit delivers consistent, reliable ignition performance, and maintenance-free operation for air-cooled VW engines.

The Ignitor I module replaces traditional points and condenser with a solid-state trigger, providing stable timing and maintenance-free operation. Combined with a precision advance mechanism, this distributor is ideal for stock and mild performance VW engines where simplicity and dependability are key.

Another stand-out feature of the D186813 is its fully adjustable mechanical advance system. Using the included spring kit and advance limiters, the timing curve can be tailored to match your specific engine combination. Spring selection controls how quickly advance comes in, while interchangeable limiters allow total mechanical advance to be set at 12°, 16°, or 20°. This flexibility allows for precise tuning of idle quality, throttle response, and overall engine performance—far beyond what is possible with fixed-curve distributors.
