Genuine VW/TEMIC Ignition Coil (6N0-905-104) is a modern ECU-controlled “smart” coil used on Mexican-production 1600i EFI engines and select 1990–2000s VW/Audi water-cooled applications. Unlike a traditional can-style coil, this unit is driven directly by the engine control unit (ECU) using a 3-pin low-voltage connector and internal power electronics to control dwell and primary current.

This coil is intended only for engines with electronic fuel injection and an ECU capable of driving a smart coil. It is not a replacement for standard air-cooled carbureted ignition systems or can-type coils used with external modules such as 191-905-351-B.

Fitment
  • VW Type 1 (Beetle) 1600i EFI – Mexican production engines (approx. 1993–2004) with factory ECU ignition control
  • Select VW/Audi water-cooled models (Golf, Jetta, Polo, etc.) originally equipped with ignition coil 6N0-905-104 – always confirm by OE part number

Notes
  • This is an ECU-driven smart coil and does not replace standard can-type coils used on carbureted air-cooled engines.
  • Not compatible with ignition control module 191-905-351-B or similar external modules designed for conventional coils.
  • The 3-pin coil connector is part of the OEM engine wiring harness on Mexican 1600i engines; it does not mate with harness 211-971-131-3 (which is for the distributor and ignition module only).
  • Ideal as a service replacement for factory EFI 1600i engines.
  • Always verify the part number on your original coil (6N0-905-104) before ordering, especially on water-cooled VW/Audi applications.
