Sway-A-Way 5101 Adjustable Spring Plates provide a convenient way to fine-tune rear ride height and suspension setup on Swing Axle VWs equipped with 21-3/4" rear torsion bars.
Unlike a conventional fixed spring plate, the built-in adjuster allows approximately 1-1/2" of up or down adjustment without repeatedly removing and re-indexing the torsion bars for small ride-height changes. This makes them especially useful for lowered street cars, performance applications, off-road vehicles and other VWs where precise rear suspension adjustment is desirable.
Manufactured from heavy-duty 1/4" spring steel, Sway-A-Way adjustable spring plates feature precision-welded splined collars and a silver zinc plated finish for corrosion protection. They are supplied as a matched pair with urethane bushings.

Designed for Swing Axle VW applications using 21-3/4" rear torsion bars.
Typical applications include later Swing Axle Type-1 Beetle and Karmann Ghia models. Because torsion-bar and rear suspension combinations may have been changed during the life of the vehicle, verify rear suspension type and torsion-bar length before ordering.
The built-in adjuster is intended for convenient fine adjustment of rear ride height and suspension preload. Major ride-height changes should still begin with proper torsion-bar indexing, with the spring plate adjuster used for final tuning.
Rear torsion bars are under substantial spring tension. Installation should be performed using appropriate tools and safe suspension-service procedures.
